"The legendary British countertenor James Bowman singing Ruggiero's aria Sol Da Te Mio Dolce Amore from Antonio Vivaldi's opera Orlando Furioso (RV 728). This clip is taken from a 1978 production with Marilyn Horne in the title role. The orchestra of Teatro Filarmonico of Verona is conduced by Claudio Scimone. Subtitles in Italian and German. Bowman was, along with fellow pioneer countertenors Alfred Deller, Paul Esswood and Russell Oberlin, crucial in reviving this particular voice type."
